Altco company was established in 1974 by Mr. Yousef Al Alyan. Mr. Al Alyan was Kuwait's first holder of a Master's degree, graduating from London School of Economics in the United Kingdom in the late 1940's. Mr. Al Alyan was known as "the father of modern journalism" in Kuwait, where he published Arabian Gulf's first daily English broadsheet - Kuwait Times Newspaper in 1961. Driven by his experience, knowledge and passion for business, Mr. Al Alyan made it his mission to establish a company that can adapt to the growing demands of the food sector in Kuwait. Previously a division of Al Alyan group, Altco is currently a division of Al Thiqa Group. It is also currently owned by Ziad and Saleh Al Alyan both of which are following Mr. Yousef Al Alyan's footsteps.

FOUNDER

Al Alyan Group was established by Mr. Yousef S. Al Alyan since 1974 when it began operations. Mr. Al Alyan's natural pursuit of his passion for the business came after becoming Kuwait's first holder of a Master's degree from the prestigious London School of Economics of the United Kingdom during the late 1940's. Foresight to the needs of this exponentially growing region drove him to invest in the establishment of his multiple business interests. Notably, Mr. Al Alyan is the father of modern journalism in Kuwait publishing the Arabian Gulf's first daily broadsheet - Kuwait Times Newspaper - in the English language 1961.
